Induced polarization (IP)

IP surveys are perhaps one of the most useful geophysical methods in mineral exploration, being the only one responsive to low-grade disseminated mineralization. The IP method is based on the ability of certain geological materials, e.g. metallic minerals in a rock to take an electrical charge. After an excitation current pulse has been introduced in the ground, the measured voltage will not instantly return to zero, but shows a slow material-dependent decay.
IP can be surveyed with various configurations with different resolutions and depth of penetration. GeoVista has developed a methodology for deep IP surveys which makes it possible for us to offer IP/resistivity investigations, from 100 meters down to 1 km.
